ADP measures habit, not value
ADP averages what thousands of drafters did in mock drafts. That makes it useful for reading room behavior, but it can repeat the room's shared mistake with more confidence.
The DraftADynasty draft kit starts from a different signal: FantasyCalc values drawn from real trades inside fantasy leagues. Those trades represent actual roster assets changing hands, while a mock pick can be abandoned without cost. Put both signals side by side and their disagreement becomes useful.
Read the gap
The August 4 board compares each player's value rank with ADP from 4,460 mock drafts run July 28 to August 4. It labels the gap in three plain-language buckets.
Market
ADP and trade-based value roughly agree. The room is pricing the player close to this model's value rank.
Value
The trade market ranks the player above the spot where mock drafts take him. The room may be leaving a discount.
Reach
Mock drafts take the player earlier than the trade market ranks him. You may be paying a premium.
On this snapshot, Trey McBride is the model's No. 17 value and falls 18 spots later by ADP. TreVeyon Henderson falls 22. A.J. Brown goes 12 spots earlier than his value rank, and Drake London goes 14 earlier. Those gaps are prompts to look closer, not commands to draft or fade a player.
Separate redraft from dynasty
One ranking cannot cleanly price a one-season roster and a multi-year roster at the same time. The draft kit's Redraft+ label currently appears on proven backs such as Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, and Kyren Williams. Their immediate roles can matter more in redraft than their long-term value does in dynasty.
Dynasty+ marks the opposite gap. Brock Bowers and Malik Nabers appear there on this snapshot because their long-term prices exceed their immediate redraft prices. In a redraft room, that label helps you see when part of the market price belongs to seasons your league will never score.
A five-minute pre-draft routine
- 1. Open the draft kit, choose your position filter, and scan the tiers.
- 2. Circle two or three Value players with double-digit gaps at positions you need.
- 3. Note the Reach players you still like so you know when you are paying a premium.
- 4. If you play both formats, separate Redraft+ from Dynasty+ before setting rankings.
- 5. Watch tier breaks. Five ADP spots can matter less than crossing into a weaker tier.
Your league still wins every tie. The model does not know which manager always reaches for a hometown player or when your room will start a quarterback run.
What this cannot tell you
This is a market read, not a scouting report. It will not know that a rookie won a training-camp role this morning or that an offensive lineman was injured after the latest source refresh. Market sentiment can trail real news.
Treat a large gap as a reason to investigate, not a reason to stop investigating. The board is educational draft context, not a projection, betting recommendation, or DFS instruction.
